COLD ROLLED BEATS HOT ROLLED AT SPORTS CENTRE
A new-build sports complex at Dagenham Priory Community School in Essex features Multichannel4 from Kingspan Structural Products, specified in the place of hot-rolled steel to provide wind-bracing for the new structure.
Multichannel4 is a unique range of cold formed channel sections, produced at Kingspan’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at Sherburn using the latest cold forming techniques. High strength steel 4mm thick is pre-galvanised and can be supplied with pre-engineered end connections to reduce components and simplify detailing. Holes and notches can be drilled at the point of manufacture to customer specification, increasing build accuracy and speed.
Multichannels can be used singly or compounded to form a joist section – as is the case on the school sports complex at Dagenham.
The sheer versatility and cost-effectiveness of Multichannel4 is inspiring fabricators and engineers to specify it for a wide range of applications, from racking and brickwork restraints to stairs, columns and mezzanine floors – in fact, in any situation where a channel section is required. It provides a more efficient and economical alternative to traditional construction materials such as hot rolled steel, timber, masonry and concrete.
Hutton Construction is the main contractor on the £4million Dagenham project, which is expected to be completed in Spring 2007, whilst the installer is UK Contracting Services.
